This is my opinion, I feel like canada sending a ship was a miss step.
With Canada unique relationship with Cuba, Canada should be more focussed on pulling Cuba out of the influence of the Russians, and more in the influence of the Canadians.
I would’ve preferred to see Canadian diplomats going to Cuba and offering financial aid.
Russia can't even dominate Ukraine. It is certainly not a "leading" or a "paramount" power or force and it only exercises hegemony within its own existing borders.
The Soviet Union used to run far larger and more threatening fleets of warships up and down BOTH American coasts and it did so as a matter of routine.
This propaganda cruise? It wasn't even a pale shadow of what the former Soviet Union was regularly capable of. This was done for its symbolism only.
Russia is, at most, a regional power. Yes, one with nukes. But it is wasting itself away even just attempting to fight in Ukraine.
There's a good case to be made that the Soviet Union was little more than a regional power, but that is not the message the Soviet or Russian regimes often portray to their people.

I assume the tugboat is there in case one of the other ships breaks down. Doesn't sound too intimidating.
Tugs also help with movements in ports and bays, not only for breakdowns.
True, but normally they use tugs located in the port they are visiting. I assume they have tugs in Cuba.

So I want to know which country United States dominates outside its border? Btw have some influence is not the same as dominating
